Photoshop: Let it Snow

Yesterday and today, several areas of the country found itself under piles and piles of snow. Even here in Texas, the snow is record breaking. So I’ve crafted a tutorial to make snow for your scene.

Gentle snow

For my purpuse, I made a little brush with three different dots on it. If you make your own, you’d want to make something with high scattering and spacing. This is prefered, since filling a page with individual dots can be a bit time consuming.

Now, here is an image that I’ve color edited and scattered some pixels over.

(Mirror’s Edge, whooo)

Looks alright, but to add a bit of depth, go over with a slightly thicker brush.

Flurries

Now, if you’re looking for some movement, you’ll want to repeat these steps, only with less flakes.
Seperate a few flakes onto different layers, and apply some motion blurr to each of them.

You’ll want to change the angle of each, slightly, to make it look a bit more chaotic.

And there you go, snow.

Now everyone stay safe and warm while it’s out there, alright?
