5th Generation of Pokemon?

Filed under: Uncategorized — tranasaurus @ 3:05 am

Well I love Pokemon, and I always will, but I really think the franchise has degraded.

First of all, the Pokemon themselves just are not as creative as they were in the previous generations. Names like squirtle, abra and kadabra, hitmonlee, and magikarp are clever and easy to their origins. The first two Pokemon revealed in the fifth generation are zorua and zoroark. I’m not even sure how to pronounce them, but even if I did, they just don’t have that Pokemon feel that I grew up with. They feel more tacked-on with not as much care devoted to their creation.

However, I could get used to some new Pokemon in time. They may not be as memorable, but I can’t just ignore them. What does bother me is the show. This may sound lame, but I recently finished watching the first three seasons of the original show and I sincerely enjoyed it. I laughed at Ash and Pikachu when they did their super hero poses, I cried was sad when butterfree left, and I even put up with Team Rocket’s motto because they actually have skill in rhyming.

Then I watched the most recent episode aired, and it is just not the same Pokemon I grew up with. Maybe it’s just me, but the new episodes lack personality, the jokes are not as witty, everything seems tedious.

Oh, and one more thing before I end my rant:

  1. I haven’t watched the show since I was in elementary school, but I totally agree. :/ They pulled the franchise on too long, and you kinda wonder, Is this kid ever growing up? I just lost track of them after the first few Johto Pokemon, and then they started turning sticks into Pokemon (Unown)…

  2. I agree mate, I’ve the original Pokemon are some of my favorite games of all times. There are alot of fond memories of the original 151 and even when they added the second generation it was still great. However recently it’s just gotten ridiculous. I know I’ll never have the same fun as when I was little, but I can’t bring myself to even play or look at the new stuff. It’s a shame.
