As i was reading the article that was assigned to us on wednesday, I started to think about how serious this issue would become. The article was written in 2004, and 6 years later, the ability of cell phones to become a swiss army knife is rapidly increasing. Most high end phones today are more powerful than the computers that existed in the late 1990’s. A lot of these phones have the processing power to run windows 98, all in the palm of our hands.
As I read more and more of the article, I found myself reaching for my phone, falling into the trap that the article had laid out. I don’t think i could live more than one day without my phone. I use it for everything, and without it, i feel lost. my phone always allows me to be on aim,skype, google talk, and facebook chat all the time, just in case someone needs to reach me. Even if nobody is contacting me at the moment, The security blanket of having it comforts me all too well.
One exception is though, however, when I am with my girlfriend, I don’t seem to pay attention to my phone at all.

What sort of cell phone do you have? I’m wondering if the advancements we keep making to our cell phones are only making us more and more dependent on them.

It’s wierd, I have a rather nice phone and plenty of friends to talk to, but I find my phone often quiet and feel like texts are annoyance that I would rather ignore than deal with. Maybe I’m alone on this here but I just have my cell so someone can reach me in an emergency.
